There may not be paparazzi-flashing cameras or a red carpet for these directors and producers.
But on Wednesday, April 2, the Duquesne Program Council will hold its fifth annual film festival to showcase and award original, student-created works.
Amy Wargo, one of the festival's organizers, says the festival is unlike anything else offered at the University.
"It's a great chance for the student filmmakers of Duquesne to take their talents to a new level and showcase them in a fun and unique way," she said.
This year, DPC received six entries: two animations, two dramas and two documentaries (listed below).
Beginning at 9 p.m. in the Student Union's Duquesne Room, all six entries will be shown. Awards will be given to the students whose works were previously judged by Journalism and Multimedia Arts Professors Jim Vota and Dennis Woytek, English Professor John Fried and former DPC Communications Director Jim Taggart. A People's Choice Award will also be given to the student whose film receives the most votes from Wednesday night's audience. Free food and drink will be provided. For more information, call ext. 6619 or e-mail dpc@duq.edu.
